I love wolves. I feel sorry that they're blamed for things, when we humans are invading their teritories. I think they're extremely inteligent, and have amazing communication. We need to protect them

I also adore wolves and there are plans, as yet unconfirmed, to release wild wolves in the highlands of Scotland to control the deer population. It's mired in controversay as far too many myths and superstitions still exist about wolves attacking humans.

I couldn't agree more, wolves are one, if not my favorite wild animals, they are beautyful, strong, intellegent and very interesting animals. I think humans are more offen to blame then the wolves. But what can we do about this?

We can only continue to educate the susperstitious and more importantly educate the children by introducing them to captive bred wolf cubs so they grow up to learn that they are not vicious killers.

This prejudice has traditionally arisen in countries which have a high incidence of rabies, a rabid wolf is a terrifying prospect, so in a way I can understand the lasting fear and lies regarding wolves.

In many countries things have improved but far too slowly for my liking, after all, in all domestic dogs there lurks a wolf.

Exactly. There are no recorded incidents, to date, of a healthy wolf attacking a human being. I love wolves. They are my favorit wild dog, and indeed my favorit animal all together. The wolf is also muy power animal, so I am a bit biased. I have wolves, primarily stuffed animals all over my dorm room, and many more, primarily sculptures all over my bedroom at home. I also especially love dog breeds that resemble the wolf physically, huskies, german shepheards, malamutes, samoids, etc and breeds which resemble the wolf in spirit and skill, such as boarder collies, belgian sheep dogs and many of the hearding or working breeds of the AKC.

I too am so taken with wolves. At a country home owned by my family and myself we have one room we have named the Wolf Parlour Bedroom. It is all done up in shades of blues and whites with Wolves. There is one photo of two wolves encountering a midnight blizzard. The place is so far yet into wilderness that creatures of the wild roam freely. I know that coyotes are present along with deer...
The invasion of City ways is so destructive to that which is alive with natures best of the wild and free

The wolf lover's are growing in number I watched documentary following a pack of wolves in Yellowstone, one scene showed miles of cars, carrying people heading to the park to hear the wolves howl..

The wolf provides a connection with something primal deep in our soul, that we still want to hang on to..I have a cd of wolves howling and it makes me feel a very real need to run off to complete wilderness occupied by wolves.

I love to go to the zoo in Rochester and talk to the wolves. If you spend enough time there and are patient you can get them to talk to you. Wining and growl barking, yipping, and snuffling. If you ketch them on a good day they'll even howl for you. One of them, the alfa female always comes over to the fense and dominence displays. Then I play bow to her and she growl wines at me. I can usually get the sabordinate male and the omega female to howl for me on a regular basis. I even had the omega female approach me and submissive display once. It was encredible to actually communicate with them and to understand them.

I do not doubt for a moment that truth you are speaking of this awesome experience. It is a matter of being in tune with the rhythemic patterns of another and taking the time to be...patient...and to listen. To be approachable as you enter into their territory.
Oh that these creatures that are so magnificent could live their lives in the wild lands...

It certainly does take great patience. The first time I had to spend five hours just sitting there and growl wining. But, it was worth it. After that they got used to me and I could usually get them to come over and start vocalizing after only twenty minutes or so. Oh, Grace? What is your power animal, if you know? Just curious.

This question of, "What is my power animal," intrigues me as I don't know that I have ever quite been asked this particular question... Please expound.

All this wisdom! I kind of feel sort of childish here but I love wolves. Sadly misunderstood and we need to learn to understand them. Ever red the Firekeeper saga?
